E­lec­tri­cal sa­fe­ty e­qui­p­ment and ac­ces­so­ries that are used in in­du­strial plan­ts in pla­ces de­fi­ned as "a dan­ger of ex­plo­sion or fire" be­cau­se of the con­ti­nued pre­sen­ce or in­ter­mit­tent, oc­ca­sio­nal or re­gu­lar spread of ha­zar­dous sub­stan­ces into the at­mo­sphe­re.

Among the plan­ts in which they are used are for e­xam­ple:

  • pe­tro­che­mi­cal plan­ts
  • phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal plan­ts
They are made of light a­lu­mi­num alloy or AISI 316 and are ma­nu­fac­tu­red in ac­cor­dan­ce with stan­dards IECEx, ATEX for use in areas Exd
